Terms of service

Last updated: April 2026

IMPORTANT: This document is a draft and has not been reviewed by legal counsel. It must be reviewed and approved by a qualified attorney before publication. Do not publish as-is.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Lumi, a voice-first AI assistant application ("App"), and the Lumi website at lumi.app ("Website"), operated by [Your Company Legal Name] ("Company", "we", "us", or "our"). By using Lumi, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using the App, or by accessing the Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Lumi. If you are using Lumi on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of service

Lumi is an AI-powered virtual assistant that can perform actions on your device, connect to third-party services, and execute tasks based on your voice or text commands. Lumi can:

  • Adjust device settings (Android only, including brightness, volume, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb)
  • Access and manage your calendar, contacts, and reminders
  • Connect to third-party services (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Notion, Jira, Salesforce, and others) to read, create, and modify content on your behalf
  • Send messages and initiate communications through connected services
  • Summarize, draft, and organize documents across connected platforms
  • Execute multi-step workflows across multiple services

Lumi uses large language model (LLM) technology to understand your requests and plan actions. Like all AI systems, Lumi may occasionally misinterpret requests or produce incorrect results.

3. Account and eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Lumi. If you are between 16 and 18, you must have parental or guardian consent. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and any credentials used to access connected services through Lumi.

4. Subscription plans and payment

Free tier

Lumi offers a free tier with limited functionality, including basic device controls, calendar access, and a daily limit on AI-powered actions.

Paid tiers

Paid subscription plans (Pro, Business, Enterprise) are billed monthly or annually as selected at the time of purchase. Prices are displayed in the App and on the Website. We may change pricing with 30 days notice to existing subscribers.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods. Upon cancellation, your account reverts to the free tier.

Business and enterprise plans

Business plans require a minimum of 5 seats. Enterprise plans are governed by a separate agreement. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and an Enterprise agreement, the Enterprise agreement prevails.

5. Actions on your behalf

Authorization

When you give Lumi a command, you authorize Lumi to perform the requested action on your behalf. This includes sending messages, creating or modifying documents, scheduling events, adjusting device settings, and interacting with connected services.

You are responsible for reviewing and confirming actions before they are executed when confirmation is requested. For actions that Lumi executes autonomously (such as adjusting brightness or setting an alarm), you accept that the action will be performed immediately upon your command.

Handoff actions

When Lumi cannot complete a step in a multi-step task, it will provide instructions for you to complete the step manually. Lumi may save the state of incomplete tasks ("resume points") for up to 7 days so you can return and continue.

Accuracy and errors

Lumi uses AI to interpret your commands and may occasionally:

  • Misinterpret your intent
  • Select the wrong contact, calendar, or document
  • Generate inaccurate summaries or drafts
  • Perform an action you did not intend

You are responsible for verifying the results of Lumi's actions. We recommend reviewing important actions (such as sending messages to contacts, modifying shared documents, or scheduling meetings with others) before confirming.

We are not liable for consequences arising from actions Lumi performs based on your commands, including incorrectly interpreted commands.

Destructive actions

For actions that cannot be easily reversed (deleting files, sending messages, modifying shared documents), Lumi will request your confirmation before proceeding. If you confirm a destructive action, you accept responsibility for the outcome.

6. Third-party service connections

Your credentials

When you connect Lumi to a third-party service (such as Google, Slack, or Notion), you authenticate directly with that service using OAuth or equivalent protocols. Lumi does not store your passwords for third-party services. Lumi stores access tokens in your device's secure storage (Android Keystore or iOS Keychain).

Third-party terms

Your use of third-party services through Lumi is also subject to those services' terms of use and privacy policies. Lumi is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or policies of third-party services.

Disconnection

You may disconnect any third-party service from Lumi at any time through the App's settings. Disconnecting a service immediately revokes Lumi's access to that service.

7. Business and enterprise features

Administrator responsibilities

If you are an administrator for a Lumi Business or Enterprise account, you are responsible for:

  • Managing which integrations are available to your organization's users
  • Configuring access policies and roles
  • Reviewing audit logs as appropriate for your organization's compliance requirements
  • Ensuring that your organization's use of Lumi complies with applicable laws and regulations

Data separation

Lumi maintains separation between personal and organizational data. An individual user's personal integrations (personal Google account, personal messages) are not accessible to their organization's administrator. Organizational integrations (company Slack, company Google Workspace) are subject to organizational policies and audit logging.

Audit logging

Lumi Business and Enterprise plans log actions taken by users on organizational integrations. Logs include the timestamp, user, action type, target service, and result. Logs do not include the content of messages, documents, or other data accessed. Administrators can access and export these logs.

8. Intellectual property

The Lumi App, Website, and all associated content (including but not limited to the design, code, documentation, and brand assets) are owned by the Company and protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for its intended purpose.

Content you create, modify, or access through Lumi remains your property (or the property of the applicable third-party service). Lumi does not claim ownership of your data.

9. Prohibited uses

You may not use Lumi to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Send spam, unsolicited messages, or bulk communications
  • Attempt to access services or data you are not authorized to access
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App
  • Use the AI to generate harmful, illegal, or abusive content
  • Circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or other technical restrictions
  • Automate actions on third-party services in ways that violate those services' terms of use
  • Use Lumi to make financial transactions, purchases, or transfers (Lumi does not support these actions)
  • Use Lumi in safety-critical applications where AI errors could cause physical harm

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • Lumi is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied
  • We do not warrant that Lumi will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that AI-generated actions will be accurate
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Lumi is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Company from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of Lumi, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or via email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of Lumi after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Lumi if you violate these Terms. You may stop using Lumi at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases. Sections 8, 10, 11, and 14 survive termination.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your State/Jurisdiction]. Any disputes arising from these Terms will be resolved through binding arbitration in [Your City, State], except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property violations.

15. Contact

For questions about these Terms, contact us at legal@lumi.app.
